Out with the old. The refurbishment begins!

The planning stage has come to an end (mostly), the style/design of The Secret Garden has been agreed and today we began stripping and rebuilding.

So far we have knocked down the old bar area, removed some questionable wiring and a new wall between the kitchen and what will be the new bar has been erected.

We’ve totally given up on trying to de-grease the current floor tiles and have decided to rip them all up and buy new, although subconsciously, we may have just used that as an excuse to go shopping. Either way it’s going to look much brighter and will hopefully look similar to what we have planned in our heads.

Whilst Lu and Barry have been dealing with the more manual parts of the refurbishment, Emma has been hard at work planning the menus which seems to already have the approval of our resident Veggie and Vegan staff (Emily and Maisy) at The Crow’s Nest – which is always a good sign.

It’s going to be a long few weeks while we remodel what was once ‘The Monkey’s Fist’ and we can not wait to share it with you all.

For now though, here’s where we’ve got to on the day of writing this…
